What is an Information Technology Asset Inventory?
An information technology ("IT") asset inventory is a collection of the relevant information about all of a company’s hardware and software IT assets. A thorough inventory will include comprehensive information about all hardware assets and the software installed on each asset. Because IT assets change over time, a company’s IT asset inventory process should be automated so that the company’s executives can view a snapshot of the IT assets at any point in time.
